LarynxScope™
For
Advanced Fiberoptic Laryngoscopy
The
Astralite LarynxScope Fiberoptic Rigid Endoscope (LFRE) is
a precision, diagnostic periscope designed for safe
examination, diagnosis, and evaluation of physiologic and
pathologic states of the larynx and pharynx. Beyond direct
laryongoscopy, this state-of-the-art fiberoptic endoscope
permits imaging of the
-
Larynx, including the epiglottis, the true and false vocal chords, the anterior commissure, aryepiglottic folds, arytenoid cartilage, and the pyriform fossa.
-
Velopharynx, including movements of posterior and lateral walls of the pharynx and the posterior nasal septum and Waldeyer's Ring. Optically superior pharynx imaging like never before.
-
Rosenmuller fossae, revealing the torus and mouth of the Eustachian tube, the posterior and septum and Waldeyer's Ring.
Use
the Astralite LFRE for early detection of cancer of the larynx.
The LFRE is SAFE. In many Emergency Rooms, the LFRE, or similar
device, is a required tool for locating obstructions and foreign
objects (fishbones, etc.) It is quick and easy. Quickly and
easily image the pharynx at excellent optical clarity. The
endoscope design eliminates the hazard of heat in the posterior
pharynx by utilizing the glass fiber bundle which projects
'cold' light through the distal end of the telescope and onto
the desired field of view. The bulb needed for illumination
is safely housed below the sealed handle at the proximal end
of the scope, outside the patient's mouth.

Optical Properties:
A prism at the distal end of the scope allows 90° viewing
with a field of approximately 60°. The image is erect, as
though the viewer were looking over the base of the tongue,
down to the larynx. The object is illuminated by light from
a split fiberoptic bundle on each side of the scope's distal
prism.
Electrical: Operates
from 115v, 50/60Hz. Power consumed approximately 3 watts.
Voltage to the Krypton-gas-filled bulb is approximately 3.8v.
Cleaning
and Disinfection: Clean the scope and attachments with
an alcohol or detergent solution soaked cloth, which is wrung
dry. Do not dip or soak any of the electrical accessories.
High-level disinfection is accomplished by following the detailed
instructions provided in the Instructions for Use.
